Hi :)

I’m Jen Merlo and I am a full-time photographer based out of Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. I love what I do and it comes across in the photographs, memories, and moments I capture for my clients!

I’ve had the privilege of living all over the US, but I am very happy to have called Eastern North Carolina my home since 2009.

Prior to creating Bluefin Artistry and becoming a full-time photographer, I worked for Disney and then for the Marine Corps as a program director. The experiences, friendships (family), and things I learned along the way were truly life impactful. I am so glad I was able to have these experiences as I fulfilled a life-long dream of starting my own photography small business.

That brings me to today! I love photography and I love capturing both people and our nature friends in a very special, unique way. Please feel free to take a look at my work and you’ll see what I mean. My clients constantly express how much I’ve capture that very special moment, expression, and time, and most importantly, how comfortable I make them.

I invest a lot into my gear, equipment, and time because I want the very best for my clients. I worked extremely hard (you’ll see), have a ton of fun on our shoots, and I truly care how awesome your photos come out.

For the nature and landscape prints I have for sale on my Fine Art Store page, a portion of every single print sale goes to support non-profit organizations dedicated to the preservation and rehabilitation of wildlife, wildlife habitats and educational programs dedicated to these efforts.

In addition to photography, I enjoy hiking, spending time outdoors, listening to music, working out at the gym, creating artwork (mostly oil paintings) and dancing. I am honored to serve on the Board of Directors for several amazing organizations in our community including: the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce, the Havelock Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Fort Macon, and the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee. I am also a Rotarian and a regular volunteer for Fort Macon State Park, Atlantic Beach Sea Turtle Project, and Crystal Coast Stargazers, among other organizations in Carteret and Craven counties.
